Cockburn continues to attract key community, retail, entertainment and leisure facilities. Now it will also be home to the largest surf park in the southern hemisphere as part of a lease agreement between the State Government and Aventuur signed yesterday.
The surf park, to be located near Cockburn Central, will create 260 jobs during planning and construction, and around 65 full-time equivalent positions once complete. The attraction is set to become the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere and is anticipated to be open for summer 2025. Lateral Planning has been engaged as planning consultant, and is working alongside Place Development, MJA Studio, See Design Studio and the City of Cockburn in anticipation of lodging a Development Application for the Surf Park on behalf of Aventuur in the not-too-distant future.
