Murdoch Activity Centre Continues to Grow

Activity Centres are more than just a shopping centre and complimentary uses. In our experience, Activity Centre precincts without a major retail anchor are just as important, and can achieve excellent planning outcomes. This is particularly the case for the Murdoch Specialised Centre. Focused around Murdoch University and the Fiona Stanley Hospital, the planning framework established by the Western Australian Planning Commission, DevelopmentWA and the City of Melville facilitates land uses and built form outcomes which support and complement the well-established health and knowledge uses.

Hesperia is playing a critical role in the delivery of activity within this centre. Lateral Planning Director – Sean Fairfoul has worked alongside Hesperia for several years in delivering a number of notable built form outcomes within the Centre. The range of uses and tenants which Hesperia has assembled across the precinct will ensure that the vision for a lively and active centre becomes the reality.

Lateral Planning is proud to have assisted Hesperia obtain their most recent planning approval within the Murdoch Specialised Centre. Designed by Hassell, this development will become a landmark site within the Centre fronting South Street, housing a major office tenant along with several supporting amenities and uses.

Congratulations to Hesperia and the wider project team on another successful result.

Credit also needs to be given to the staff from both DevelopmentWA and the City of Melville for their proactive approach to development within this precinct.
